Advocacy: Care Providers of Minnesota advocates and represents our members with the administrative agencies such as the Department of Health and Department of Human Services and elected officials such as the governor and legislators at the state level. Our partner, the National Center for Assisted Living performs the same functions at a national level. Education: Annual classes include a four-day Housing Managers Series and a three-day Managing Your Nursing Practice in Assisted Living. One-day seminars include Facilitating Payments from Alternative Revenue Sources, Legislative Highlights and Future Strategies. Our single day workshops include "Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia" and "Developing Your Staff - A Strength-based Approach". Knowledge: Our members convene three times a year to share best practices and learn from each other at the 1.5 day Spring Leadership Conference in April, the 1.5 day Assisted Living and Senior Housing Summit, and the 3-day Annual Convention and Exposition in November. Our website and weekly newsletter addresses state legislative and administrative news, national news, housing and community based services, quality, education, association activities and other items of interest to members. Emails are sent two to five times a week. Members can post positions on our Jobs Center. Resources: The Care Providers Service Corporation offers the following products and services, UHF Purchasing, Care Providers Insurance Services; Verified Credentials, Solutions for Better Aging, Silverchair Learning Systems and the American Healthcare Association Preferred Products and Services Program. Care Providers Insurance Services is a member owned agency provides, competitive insurance products. Other products offered include A Guide to Minnesota Class F Home Care Provider Rules, a Guide to Minnesota’s 2006 Assisted Living Law, Minnesota Senior Housing Compensation Report, Minnesota Home Care Bill of Rights for Assisted Living and Minnesota Home Care Bill of Rights forms. Support: The Housing and Community Based Services Cabinet meets five times a year for half a day and is a forum for collaboration and management of issues and concerns affecting the variety of service models offered to residents and clients. Regional meetings are held three to four times a year where topics such as a review of Class F Home Care Agency Surveys are presented. The Care Providers of Minnesota foundation also provides scholarship support for education. National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL): Members have the opportunity to participate at the national level in government affairs, communications, and public relations as well as have instant information on the latest research conducted nationwide on long term care facts and trends.
