This position is located at The Garden's at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota. To plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Therapeutic Program department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards and guidelines. Assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, emotional and psychosocial well being of each resident. Develop and maintain a volunteer program within the facility. AA/EOE Duties: Determine types of therapeutic programs necessary to meet individual needs of the residents, encourage social interaction between residents, evaluate resident's needs, likes, dislikes and programs, coordinate seasonal/special events - planning, organizing, publicizing, implementing, decorating, etc., monitors progress on all residents, develops resident care plans, provide for communication to all Residents/Staff of the planned programs, maintains safe and sanitary environment, supervises and coordinates volunteer program and student interns, hires, supervises and evaluates therapeutic staff Qualifications: As a minimum, a Bachelors Degree in a related field from an approved school. Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional eligible for certification preferred. Must have two years experience in a social or recreational setting, within the last five years, one year of which was full time in a patient therapeutic program in a health care setting. Must possess leadership abilities, organizational skills and communication skills. Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
