The State Constitution mandates the ending date of the legislative session for the biennium—it doesn’t say the ending has to be pretty. The 2010 legislative session, set to end on May 17th, has been full of politics and political maneuvering, a little bit of policy, and fights over money—or lack thereof. Unfortunately, the politics played a bigger role than policy-making so we predict the end result of this legislative session being little in the way of new mandates or changes to public policy and more in the way of budget slices and political posturing.
The 2010 Legislative Update webinar will cover the following:
1. Budget outcome of the 2010 legislative session
2. Policy changes to older adult services from the 2010 legislative session
3. Future opportunities (focusing on bed layaway changes and PACE)
4. Interim activities: political and policy
Each registered location will receive online access to the 2010 Legislative Update manual when available.
