Webinar: Cultural Relations in Long-Term Care

Webinar: Cultural Relations in Long-Term Care
Minnesota is becoming increasingly culturally diverse, and the long-term care field is no exception. Whether it is diversity in employees, clients/residents, or both, creating a welcoming and respectful environment is an increasingly critical factor in the success of our organizations. Doing so requires that leaders understand how to develop sound, intercultural relationships and build shared understanding across our different cultures.

This webinar focuses on the challenges, benefits, and best practices for developing strong intercultural relationships in the long-term care workforce. Participants will learn about proven tools and techniques for understanding cultural differences, and for connecting with clients, residents, and staff members from different cultures.

This webinar is the result of a 2016 Leading 4 Life group project. Leading 4 Life is a 12-month leadership fellowship program sponsored by the Care Providers Foundation that builds leadership strengths in practicing professionals, engaging them in a dynamic curriculum through interactive instruction and practical, experiential learning experiences.

Learning Objectives
  • Appreciate challenges associated with cultural differences among staff members and residents.
  • Understand and apply the process for developing cultural competencies for leaders and staff members.
  • Learn best practices for forging strong relationships across cultural differences.
