Status of COVID-19 in Minnesota
- Total positive including reinfections: 1,781,651
- Total deaths: 14,497
- Total cases requiring hospitalization: 83,512
- Total cases hospitalized in ICU: 14,109
Numbers are cumulative since January 20, 2020.
The number of lab-confirmed positive tests among Minnesota residents will be updated weekly on
Situation Update for COVID-19 with data as of 4:00 AM on the Tuesday prior. This total reflects only the results from laboratory testing.
On the whole, COVID-19 data in Minnesota is encouraging this past week, with most metrics indicating the virus is on the decline in the state. COVID-19 cases continue to fall in all regions of the state, as well as cluster to a similar case rate of around 50 cases per 100,000. These are officially-reported cases, generally reported via healthcare providers.
Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) COVID-19 phone surveys
In 2023, MDH is conducting phone interviews to better understand the impacts of COVID-19 and the pandemic on the lives of Minnesotans who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. One project is based on a random sample of people across the state who had a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection between 2021 and 2022. Phone calls will come from this number:
651-318-6203.
The second project involves calling people in McLeod County approximately one month after their lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection. Phone calls to McLeod County residents will come from this number:
763-445-4875.
Callers for both projects will identify themselves as being from the Minnesota Department of Health. The results of this survey will help us identify groups who may have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the pandemic and inform programmatic activities and priorities to equitably support those most affected.
