New MDH & Stratis Health toolkit supports assisted living and home care providers

Last week, Stratis Health and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) hosted a webinar introducing the new Assisted Living and Home Care Provider Licensing and Regulation Support Toolkit, now available on the MDH website:
The toolkit was developed to help prospective providers, organizations seeking licensure, and existing licensed providers better understand Minnesota's licensing and regulatory requirements. One of its primary goals is to help organizations determine which license type best fits the services they intend to provide and identify important operational, regulatory, and business considerations before submitting a license application.
The toolkit also includes practical resources to help providers build a strong compliance foundation and maintain ongoing survey readiness after licensure.
Resources included in the toolkit
The toolkit includes a variety of worksheets, guides, and planning tools, including:
- Business Planning and Self-Assessment Worksheet to evaluate organizational readiness before applying for licensure
- License Type Decision Support resources to help organizations understand the differences between assisted living and home care licensure and the services each license authorizes
- Payment Sources for Assisted Living and Home Care to assist with financial planning
- Guides for Reading and Interpreting Regulations to help translate statutory and regulatory requirements into day-to-day operations
- Continuous Survey Readiness resources, including an annual planning tool and action plan worksheet
- Overviews of key Minnesota assisted living and home care requirements to help providers understand regulatory expectations
The resources are available individually or as a downloadable toolkit, allowing organizations to use the materials that best meet their needs.
While the toolkit does not replace Minnesota statutes, rules, or official MDH guidance, it provides a practical framework for organizations to evaluate readiness, plan for licensure, and strengthen ongoing compliance efforts.
