Beginning January 1, 2027, county-based purchasing will be the only choice for 32 counties

During the Monday May 18, 2026, Seniors and People with Disabilities Advisory Committee Meeting, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), announced that starting 1/1/2027, South Country Health Plan, PrimeWest Health and Itasca Medical Care will be the only plans offered in their counties for all Medical Assistance products.
This change will affect 32 counties: Beltrami, Big Stone, Brown, Chippewa, Clearwater, Cottonwood, Dodge, Douglas, Goodhue, Grant, Hubbard, Itasca, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Mcleod, Meeker, Nobles, Pipestone, Pope, Redwood, Renville, Sibley, Steele, Stevens, Swift, Traverse, Wabasha, Waseca, and Yellow Medicine.
