The 2026 legislative session featured projected fiscal deficits, cuts to long-term care, and policy changes to a variety of areas with many new laws that will directly, as well as indirectly, impact your operations. To help digest everything that happened, we at Care Providers of Minnesota have consolidated, summarized, and explained the implications of everything that was signed into law and may impact your business operations. We call this the 2026 Legislative Update Book, which you can find on our website here.
Everything new impacting assisted living, nursing homes, DHS/program integrity, and workforce can be found in this book. It is free for members to view online and $15 to order a physical print copy. For non-members it is $75 to order a print copy. Care Providers of Minnesota products and resources may be ordered online at the Care Providers of Minnesota web store or by calling 952-854-2844.
As we learn more about how some of the laws will be implemented, we will be sure to update you in our weekly newsletter. As you consider how to operate some of these new mandates/opportunities, don’t hesitate to ask us questions—there may be consequences we haven’t even considered!
Don’t forget that with the information in this book and the legislature no longer in session, now is also the time to educate legislators and candidates on the policy and payment issues facing our profession. Before legislators return to the next legislative session, we must learn what we are facing and advocate for a better future.
