2018 Care Providers of Minnesota Convention & ExpositionCALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

Care Providers of Minnesota 2018 Convention & Exposition  //  November 12–14, 2018  //  Fresh Perspectives

Care Providers of Minnesota is excited to start another year of preparations for the 70th Annual Convention & Exposition—Fresh Perspectives; this year at the brand new Mystic Lake Center, November 12–14, 2018. This event attracts nearly 2,500 long-term care providers in skilled nursing, housing, home care, and assisted living settings. During three days, we host dynamic keynote sessions, engaging learning sessions, an exposition with more than 100 vendors, awards presentations, and other special events. We look to you to showcase your knowledge and expertise by submitting a LEARNING SESSION and/or MINIBYTE proposal.

Please note: The proposal submission deadline has passed.

What We're Looking For

AttendeesCare Providers of Minnesota is committed to offering dynamic learning experiences at Convention. We welcome proposals from new speakers and accept proposals for all experience levels—novice, intermediate, and advanced. However, as many attendees are experienced professionals, we will give extra consideration to proposals focused on advanced sessions. See Target Groups & Topics below.

There are TWO options for Convention education presentations:
  • 60-minute LEARNING SESSION
  • 15-minute MINIBYTE

You may submit both LEARNING SESSION and MINIBYTE proposals, however, there is a limit of two proposals per category for a maximum of four proposals total.

Limit of two LEARNING SESSION proposals
We want presenters who will actively engage the audience and go beyond a lecture format. When attendees are engaged in the learning process, they are more likely to understand and remember the information that is shared. There are many options one may use to engage attendees, including case studies, small group discussions, polling, open-ended questions, and time for questions and answers.

We are using the same online submission process (ProposalSpace) as the preceding three years. If you have previously submitted a proposal using ProposalSpace, there is no need to create a new account or password. New users will need to create a username and password.

MINIBYTESMINIBYTES—Back by popular demand!

Limit of two MINIBYTES proposals
MINIBYTES debuted at last year’s Convention and were a big hit with attendees. If you are interested in presenting a shorter, less formal presentation, consider a MINIBYTE proposal. MINIBYTES are 15-minute presentations by one speaker on a focused topic. No need to create a PowerPoint slideshow or lengthy materials, however, a one-page handout with tips, resources, or checklists is requested. MINIBYTES are grouped together by topic/profession and four MINIBYTES will fill a session.

Who Should Submit a Proposal?

You understand the trends, issues, and challenges facing your profession and you have firsthand experience in a variety of areas. Give back to your profession by sharing your knowledge and experience with your peers (and you don’t need to do it alone—co-presenters are always welcome).
State Agencies & Other Long-Term Care Organizations
This is an opportunity for the agencies and organizations our members work with every day to share important information with participants. It’s also a great place to learn the concerns and priorities of providers.
Business Partners, Product and Service Suppliers
Consider the educational contribution you could make in the long-term care field. Please note that educational sessions CANNOT be commercial presentations. The proposal must have a clear educational substance beyond the product or service you represent. It is always helpful for our members to see your company represented in both the Exposition and a learning session.

Business Partners

By presenting valued LEARNING SESSIONS and/or MINIBYTES, business partners can present themselves as content experts to attendees. Business partners are welcome to submit proposals; however, LEARNING SESSIONS and MINIBYTES CANNOT be commercial presentations. The proposals must be completely educational and not promote your products/services. Remember, it is helpful for our members to see your company represented in a LEARNING SESSION and/or MINIBYTE and at a booth in the Exposition.
