Considerations for recreational vs. medical cannabis in LTC
Considerations for recreational vs. medical cannabis in LTC
Product Code: 2354W

August 1 marks the legalization of recreational cannabis in Minnesota, and with that comes a lot of questions in LTC. This session will be co-led by Rob Rodè, Esq., a healthcare attorney with expertise in providers of elder care, and Dr. Emily Escue, a geriatrician who advises older adults on symptom management. This webinar covers medical and recreational use of cannabis as it relates to older adults and their caregivers. Rob Rodè will discuss the new changes to Minnesota state law, and best practices for facilities considering their policies and procedures related to these laws. The Minnesota Medical Cannabis program and updates to this from the new legislation will be reviewed, with considerations for patients using products within the medical cannabis program versus outside the program.

Dr. Escue will discuss possible medical uses for cannabis, the evidence behind these, and side effects to caution older adults using these products. She will give practical advice for patients, caregivers, and clinicians about starting these products, such as dosing and understanding the differences between edible and inhaled forms. The clock is ticking so please join us to learn all this and more to better prepare your site for these changes.
