Licensed Assisted Living Director Program

Care Providers of Minnesota has collaborated with Healthcare Academy to develop a comprehensive licensed assisted living director (LALD) education program. This program has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Executives for Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) and meets the education requirements of Minnesota Rule Chapter 6400.

Completion of the LALD program is one step toward earning an assisted living director license. LALD applicants need to pass three exams—NAB, which is a national exam, NAB RCAL, which is a national exam, and a Minnesota exam—and complete a mentorship. Complete details on LALD requirements and application may be found on the BELTSS website. We have a "how to" informational video here. The fees for the national and state exams are not included in the LALD program fee. View the supplemental ALD state examination bibliography here

BELTSS provided two recordings, which  can give you some insight on what it means to be a licensed professional under BELTSS and how to navigate the BELTSS website

Other resources
National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Board (NAB) - LALD applicants must take and pass two NAB exams: National Core of Knowledge Exam for Long Term Care Administrators (NAB Core) and the National Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators Line of Service Exam (RCAL). Care Providers of Minnesota strongly recommends LALD applicants consider buying the NAB study guide and practice tests to increase the likelihood of passing success.
