The Health Information Director is an integral member of the health care team. Health Information Directors are responsible for maintaining clinical records on each resident consistent with the medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care delivery system. The knowledge and expertise of the Health Information Director is needed as part of maintaining components of health information systems in long term care. Maintaining records that are accurate, systematically organized, complete and readily accessible. AA/EOE Duties: Maintain current records, process orders and keeps them current from physician and nurse practitioner, audits and prints current medication treatment sheets and physician orders. maintains resident's information on current billing, maintains resident admission/discharge book, collates/closes out files upon resident discharge, process and file mail as needed, maintains daily census, utilizing computer, tracking admissions, discharges, case mix changes, LOA, Medicare, hospitalizations, room changes and changes in pay status. Qualifications: Must have at least a High School diploma; prefer Tech College graduate. Knowledge of computers/computer skills useful. Previous experience in knowledge of health care field/long-term care preferred with experience in medical terminology. Must be able to work independently and to organize. Must be able to communicate with physicians, nursing staff and visitors. Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
