Foundation Career Ladder Mini Grants

Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation (CPM Foundation) is pleased to make funding available for career ladder “mini grants” as a complement to its successful scholarship program. The intent of the Career Ladder Mini Grant program is to assist long-term care staff with expenses for accredited certification programs or testing expenses that may lead to long-term care career promotions or job advancements in a flexible manner.

 

Timing & funding limitations

CPM Foundation Mini-Grants will be available beginning on April 1, 2024, with an open grant period to end on December 31, 2024, or until the funding runs out. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, and funds will be granted to eligible applicants until such time that the designated fund is depleted. Maximum amount to be given is $500 per applicant.

Eligibility requirements

All applicants applying for a Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation mini grant must demonstrate the following:
  • Currently employed (full-time or part-time), working for a facility, housing, home care, or community member of Care Providers of Minnesota  
  • Eligible expenses can include course fees, book fees, seminar fees, and/or testing fees that contribute to professional development & may lead to career advancement in long-term care; examples (not all inclusive) of eligible career ladder expenses:
    • Infection control preventionist
    • Diversity & equity inclusion certificate
    • Wound care certification
    • HSE exam
    • MDH training
    • Gerontology nurse prep program
  • Mini grants  cannot be used for past education or continuing education to maintain one's license
  • Applicants are only eligible to apply for one mini grant per year
  • As we want to ensure these grants will be available for staff working at a variety of member locations, we may limit the number of recipients from one organization

Submission requirements

A complete application packet consists of the following:
  • Application form & supporting documentation
  • Attestation signature from applicant & supervisor
  • Application is available on the Care Providers of Minnesota website—no fax or phone call applications will be accepted
